Who we are?

The consortium has a good balance of 4 Programme Countries (Austria, Netherlands, Estonia and Poland), and 3 Partner Countries (Argentina, Brazil and Colombia). As the partners combine a highly diverse range of backgrounds (e.g. computer science, political science, social science) and working environments (universities, ICT companies, local authorities) the collaboration is transdisciplinary.

The CAP4CITY consortium is composed of 12 partner institutions from 8 countries: Austria, Estonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Argentina. Get to know all our team below:

Danube University Krems (DUK), Austria, Coordinators

The Danube University Krems is an Austrian university specialized in postgraduate education. It is located in Krems an der Donau, Lower Austria. It offers diploma courses and extra-occupational university courses, as well as a wide variety of seminars. DUK has a strong background in continuing education and expertise in social science (business administration and management information systems), political science (legal informatics and electronic governance) and applied science (geoinformatics), as well as applied research in electronic governance and field research in Brazil on Smart cities domain.

Tallinn Technological University (TUT), Estonia

It is the only technical university in Estonia and one of the most important universities in the country, known for its research work. TalTech, as it is popularly known, has the purpose of creating synergies between different fields (technological, natural, exact, economic and health sciences) and generating new ideas that can become future projects.

 

RESPONSABILITIES IN CAP4CITY PROJECT:

  • TUT will prepare and execute the tools for capacity building in Latin America in the field of smart cities. These tools, among other things, include practical workshops to train Latin American researchers and teachers and the preparation of joint R & D projects. 
  • TUT is directly responsible for the implementation of specialized courses (continuing education program) and co-leader for the guarantee of quality and sustainability.

Technological University of Delf (TU Delf), The Netherlands

The Technological University of Delft is one of the most important centers of higher education in the Netherlands and one of the most prestigious technical universities in Europe and the world, recognized for its constant search for extraordinary talents that contribute to the maintenance of the quality of teaching and research, which places it at the top of the university rankings. TUDelft has its experience in information and communication technologies, government and information science.

Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), Poland

It is a public technology university located in Gdansk, Poland, and one of the oldest and most important universities in the country. Following a long tradition of advanced engineering research and education, the university offers a wide range of specializations and courses, organizes numerous conferences, symposia and seminars, and is currently the most popular university in Poland among students. 

GUT contributes to the project with its experience and know how in smart sustainable cities, digital government and development informatics, complemented by solid foundations in informatics and management.

Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS), Argentina

Universidad Nacional del Sur is an Argentine public university with headquarters in Bahia Blanca, south of the Province of Buenos Aires. UNS, through its Department of Computer Science and Engineering, provides the project with a solid background in applied sciences (Computer Science and Engineering) and previous experience in the domain of smart and sustainable cities.

  • Lead the implementation of academic curricula and support the content and accommodation development workshops to validate the training modules (“Development of training modules”)
  • Support with the development of the MOOC contextualizing the content to Latin America.

National University of La Plata (UNLP), Argentina

The National University of La Plata (UNLP) is a public university of the Argentine Republic. It is based in the city of La Plata and is considered one of the main educational and representative institutions of the country. Teaching, research and extension, form the basic pillars of this University. The UNLP, through its Faculty of Computing, complements the need of antecedents of applied science in the project in the field of Information Technology.

Facultade Meridional – IMED

IMED is a private institution, founded in 2004, with the aim of promoting human, economic and social development through superior education of excellence and sustainable entrepreneurship. Through innovative management processes for the education sector, IMED provides a creative environment open to process innovation, which creates important differentials in teaching and research.

IMED provides its entrepreneurial foundation and its characteristic of innovation in its educational programs. Its fund is very diverse and relevant to the project, including Administration and Economics, Territorial Science, Sustainable Energy Systems and Architecture and Urbanism.

It is an institution of higher education, research and extension, consisting of a set of units (schools, institutes, etc.), which promotes the professional and scientific training of higher-level personnel, the realization of theoretical and practical research in the main areas of knowledge, storage and dissemination of their results and the promotion of extension activities.

PUCRS brings its experience with the Innovation Center of Smart City, which has a transdisciplinary base in the fields of Information Technology (IoT / Smart Cities), Architecture and Urban Planning and Business Administration.

The Colombian School of Engineering Julio Garavito is a university of a technological nature. The School has professors of high academic and research training, which allows the student to develop knowledge oriented mainly to innovation and technological progress, through the development of academic functions of training, construction and development of knowledge and interaction with the environment. ECI has its experience in engineering, information technology, information security and information management and, especially, business architecture in smart cities.

It is a Public Law Institution, inserted in the group of advanced universities of the National System of Higher Education and governed in its supreme instances by the Catholic Church. UCN is recognized in Chile in the areas of engineering, mining, computing, astronomy, architecture and arid areas. The university is located near the driest desert in the world, Atacama, an area with the largest investments in renewable energy in the country and the location of many projects oriented towards sustainability.
