The Universidad Externado de Colombia participated in the Congress as an academic ally, and contributed its knowledge on the advances made in smart cities, obtained by the Observatory of Society, Government and Information Technologies (Observatics) and CAP4CITY Project.
The positioning and promotion strategy of the last years of the Colombian capital makes it a focus of study on smart city issues and a benchmark for innovation and business in Latin America.
Bogotá is part of the 10 smartest cities on the continent, according to the most recent study of the Cities in Motion (ICIM) index, conducted annually by the Institute of Higher Studies of the Company (IESE) of the School of Business of the University from Navarra: the 165 smartest cities in the world make up the list; 74 of them are capitals and, among Latin American cities, Bogotá ranks sixth.
The indicators evaluated in this study are: human capital, social cohesion, economy, governance, environment, mobility and transport, urban planning, international projection and technology.
For this reason, Bogotá was chosen as the headquarters of the Smart City Business Colombia: a meeting of leaders and specialists in the field, whose objective is to promote sustainable and resilient cities in Latin America.
